Lisa's Staging Tips - Where to start?

Many of us, myself included, believe the way we decorate our home is what everyone else is going to love!  Well, unless you decorate like Joanna Gains with Fixer Upper (trend setter of the year),  I am not too sure that is the case. There are so many small details to look at when preparing your personal home to become someone else’s dream home. Pictures create the desire to buy in this day and age, online shopping has become a house hold staple; shopping for food, clothes, gifts, and housing can be done with the click of a mouse. In order for you to stand out above the rest in this fast paced market and get top dollar for your asset, staging presentation is key! Here are some Do’s and Don’ts to get you started with the listing process:

Do’s:

  • Make sure all lightbulbs work throughout; if they are exposed, they should match in color and strength
  • Clear kitchen counters of all usual utensils and gadgets
  • Keep bathroom floors clear of rugs and remove toilet seat covers

Don’ts:

  • Don’t choose a paint color that is too bright or too dark or stark white
  • Don’t update light fixtures with high end lighting unless you are willing to leave them with the property upon sale
  • Don’t leave the closets without doors
